Hoop Josh Oliver took the five-year-old to the front from the jump in the Armidale Cup Day Sunday 4th Benchmark 70 Handicap and didn't let go despite a late charge down the outside by the George Woodward-trained Loud Enough and Osland's other runner in the race Exilia Miss.
Loud Enough chewed into Rage Against's lead down the straight but Rage Against fought hard to hold on in a photo finish in the 1900-metre race.
Exilia Miss was a half length off in third following an explosive run from the back of the field.
The victory provided Osland with his second win of the day.
In the Tooheys New Class 1 & Maiden Plate – also over 1900 metres – favourite Serenade Sunset claimed victory over Saint Element.
Less than half a length separated the first two placegetters as they went head-to-head down the straight.
Serenade Sunset had that little bit more as Peter Graham got the mare home after two second placings in a row.
The Paul Perry-trained How Do You Do flashed home late to claim third place in the race.
