The Walter Taylor Shield took place on the first week of January followed by the under 14’s Kookaburra Cup last week and Association president Mike Porter praised the efforts of everyone involved who made each carnival a success.
“Cooperation from all the teams, the officials and especially from Council - they went out of their way to mow the grounds early mornings and late afternoon to make sure they were all tidy the next day, it was just really good,” he said.
“Sitting there talking to [Country Cricket’s Programs Manager] Bruce Whitehouse during the day, he was extremely happy with how it all went.”
Porter said hosting successful carnivals opens up the opportunity to attract more high-level events in the future.
“We will stage any carnival we get an opportunity to do, anything we can showcase Armidale and Armidale's playing facilities, we’ll have a go at doing that,” he said.
