Work will begin next week, starting with the rear of the hall to avoid impacting on Australia Day celebrations on January 26.
The overall project is expected to take three weeks to complete and will include repainting the front and western walls of the building.
There will be some interruptions in the Cinders Lane carpark during the first phase of repainting, while several carparks are occupied by the contractor’s equipment for about seven days.
A short section of the northern footpath on Rusden Street, from the pedestrian crossing to the Armidale Folk Museum, will then be closed to pedestrians while the front of the hall is painted.
Access will be retained to the Armidale Neighbourhood Centre and New England Weeds Authority buildings.
The project, part of Council’s Capital Works Program, will be the first major coat of fresh paint for the hall for around two decades.
