Corporate hospitality tents get erected. Hands are shaken. Banter is bantered. People come from far and wide.
And the prize event in the calendar is back on this year.
Last year’s Emmaville Sheep Races were rained off and that led many to believe that the event had gone for good.
Not so. The organizers are keen to let people know that last year’s rain was a temporary dampener and this year’s event is to go ahead on March 17.
The President of the Emmaville Community Trust, Ann Fairbanks, said: “It’s fabulous for families. Kids love it. We’ve had people come from as far away as Brisbane for it”.
The race used be held in town but now it’s moved to the race course. Part of the course is called “ewe bend”.
The runners will be there, with names like "Lamb Chop", "Woolley Jumper", "Suzie Ewe", "Barry Baa Baa" and "Sunday Roast".
