One of the biggest junior events on Country Cricket NSW’s calendar – the under 14 Kookaburra Cup –  is in Armidale this week and already the locals have already downed two opponents.

The Central North side launched out of the blocks in their first game against North Coast on Monday.

The homeside batted first and finished with 7-168 from their 40 overs. Ball in hand, the local side destroyed North Coast, finishing them off for just 63 runs. Although he was removed cheaply with the bat, Armidale’s Sam Johnson played a key role in the demise of North Coast’s batting order, taking 2-9 from five overs.

Tuesday saw Central North take on Illawarra in another dominant display by the local side. Central North finished off Illawarra for 116 and it took just 15.2 overs for them to reach their target with Jack Hamilton finishing on 90 not out and Johnson on 14 not out.

Armidale’s Ryan Simpson was the pick of Central North’s bowlers, snagging 2-13 from five overs.
