Racing in only her fourth ever 1500m, the Armidale City student clinched a spot on the podium with a time of 5mins 04.14secs.
After winning the state title by just 0.01 of a second back in October, Brown was over five seconds faster than the next best NSW athlete.
Her performance also ranks her ninth on Armidale Athletics’ all-time list for females of all ages over 1500m.
Armidale Athletics coach Jay Stone said it was a phenomenal effort, with Brown only recently making the transition to 1500m.
“She’s improved every time she’s run it,” he said.
“She’s learnt how to run it.”
With the PSG the end goal, Stone said they really progressed her training when she returned from the state carnival working a lot on her speed as well as fitness.
Shae-Leigh Vale is also in Adelaide competing. She has already picked up a bronze medal in the 10yrs mutli-class discus.
