The quartet will suit up for NSW from January 27-30 after being selected in the over 40s and over 50s masters sides. Low and Abbo were named in the over 40s mens, Parker the over 40s women’s and Osborne the over 50s women’s.
Among those also representing their state is Nathan Czinner, who will play for the NSW under 15 boys.
He and fellow state rep Darby Chalmers were, along with Kookaburras squad member Matt Willis, last week imparting their knowledge to primary school students in Inverell and Moree as part of a series of clinics run by Hockey NSW.
“We try to get to rural and remote communities with multicultural populations that might not be able to access the coaching, equipment and programs that children from bigger centre can,” Hockey NSW participation manager Blair Chalmers said. “It is a great opportunity to expose students to hockey where Hockey NSW normally may not have the resources available to provide such a clinic.”
The clinics are run jointly with the Macquarie Sports Foundation (MSF) to provide free gear to the students, providing an inlet and cost reduction for those kids who would like to pick up the sport after the session.
This is the second year Hockey NSW has partnered with MSF to run clinics in regional and remote areas.
“We hope clinics like this will raise the profile of hockey in schools and increase registration for local hockey clubs,” Chalmers said.
