Coming all the way from the North Pole, Santa will be there to hear Christmas wishes and spread joy.
Armidale Regional Council service leader Greg Lawrence said shops would trade late for the event.
“This event marks the beginning of a season of events and activities offering something for everyone,” Mr Lawrence said.
“Christmas lights throughout the city centre will be turned on to mark the start of the holiday season.
“This is a chance to sneak in some Christmas shopping while enjoying the activities and entertainment on offer.”
This year the DreamWorks Trolls will give live performances at 5, 6 and 7pm.
Fly Corporate Air has donated two return flights to Brisbane as first prize in the Christmas raffle.
Headline acts Terra Firma and The Thor Phillips Band will provide live music in The Mall, among favourites from Black Gully Music Festival.
Artists Fiona McDonald and David Allan will sketch designs on to the hoardings outside Tattersall’s Hotel, and children are welcome to fill them with colour.
Market stalls with local and visiting creations will also be on offer.
Christmas in the Mall is on from 5pm to 10pm at Armidale’s Central Mall on Thursday November 23.
