Armidale’s three teams – 12s, 14s and 16s – travelled to Inverell and outplayed their opponents across the park.
The Armidale under 16’s were far too good for Inverell from the opening ball.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat and Armidale dominated from the opening ball. Cotter Litchfield picked up a wicket in his first over and Darcy McDermott did the same and they had Inverell on the back foot at 2-3.
McDermott pick up the other opener in his second over.
Litchfield then claimed two wickets in his next over and Inverell were in real trouble at 5-10 .
The Armidale bowlers put the pressure on Inverell and received great support from the fielders.
Litchfield took two more wickets to finish with the figures of 5-11 off five overs and McDermott also took 2 more to end up with the figures of 4-7 from his 4.3 overs.
The bowling pair ensured their side would have a low total to chase with Inverell posting a total of just 18.
“It was really pleasing to see the two bowlers working in tandem and not allowing a partnership to build,” coach Mark McDermott said.
Armidale looked to follow Inverell’s form with the bat, losing three wickets early but they managed to run down the total easily.
“Armidale lost three wickets in the chase, which was a little disappointing but small totals to chase can take the concentration away a little and I think that was the case although Inverell’s bowlers gave it a good shot and bowled well,” McDermott said.
“A great day for the boys and it really brought the team together.”

A massive 129-total by Ben Heagney for Armidale’s under 14s set the team up for a convincing victory against the home side.
Sam Johnson added 67 for the visitors to finish with a whopping 3-274 after their 50 overs.
Heagney’s influence on the game was also felt with the ball as he claimed 2-19 in Inverell’s run chase.
The wickets were shared among the Armidale bowlers as they tore through Inverell to bowl them out for 197 after 46 overs.
The under 12’s followed suit with another thumping of Inverell.
The hosts made just 45 before they were all dismissed.
Armidale lost Mitch Duddy early before Micah Lay put his stamp on the game.
Lay retired on 50 runs before Will Friend, Jack Lockyer and Stuart Parsons belted the ball to record a 2-121 total and claim the win.
