Golfers came from Moree, Tamworth, Armidale, Gunnedah, Uralla, Stanthorpe and Tenterfield to compete. Organiser Patsy Barry said it was a huge success.
“It was the last round of the Order of Merit for the Jack Newton Foundation and two children went off with a $500 cheque. [The winners] were Toby Cooper of Uralla and Taryn Maher of Gunnedah,” she said.
“They also won the Junior Classic here. Michael Cutmore of Tenterfield was the net winner. In the nine-hole event, there were a lot of children and they really loved it. Matt Reece from Inverell won it, Luke Denvey from Moree got first runner up, Sam Carter from Moree got second runner up and Lang Toukley of Armidale got third runner up. In our local club championships, the local champion was Michael Cutmore - the 18-hole local champion, and the nine-hole local champion was Zavier Cusack.”
