And, there’s no word yet on when Armidale will see headline acts back at Peterson’s Winery.
Concert promoter Michael Newton said the concert was cancelled because sales were extremely poor.
“The cost of running the logistical side of the show – with the infrastructure as well as the artists, saw us staring down the barrel of a huge loss that we cannot afford as a business,” Mr Newton said.
The sales were only 10 per cent of shows in other markets.
“With disappointing sales for previous shows, we will have to refocus and look at the next offering in Armidale,” Mr Newton said.
A Day on the Green was set to take the stage on March 3 next year, with The Living End and Spiderbait headlining.
It was planned on the same weekend as The Armidale Show and The Armidale Cup, the biggest race event of the year.
The news was met with disappointment from a number of Armidale residents – many who planned to buy their tickets later in the year.
Commenting on The Express Facebook page, Tracy Wilson said organisers had removed interest of their core audience.
“Most people I know have been each year and don’t even know what the current lineup plays,” Ms Wilson wrote.
“Market research very poor.”
Tour organisers have said all tickets purchased will be refunded in full.
