RACE fans are a dedicated bunch with many wearing their favourite team colours, but Darren Nayda has gone the extra mile.

The Adelaide man was among the many thousands of people who flocked to Mount Panorama for the Bathurst 1000.

Not only does Mr Nayda wear a Supercars shirt, he also wears a model car on top of his Akubra-style hat.

“This is a [Chevrolet] Camaro I’ve got sitting on my head, believe it or not. It’s for the Australian Touring Car Masters,” he explained of his headwear.

And, not only is there a model car, Mr Nayda proudly demonstrated that its exhaust also smokes.

“I’ve got a smoke machine inside the car itself, the remote and the batteries in my pocket, otherwise there’s too much weight on my had,” he said.

Camaros were not the only car of choice for Mr Nayda’s hat during the Great Race.

“Tomorrow’s going to be a Red Bull for Lowndsey with twin blowers on it,” he said.
