Brumbies talent scouts have lured Australian Schoolboys centre Noah Lolesio to the capital as part of the George Gregan scholarship partnership at the University of Canberra.

But coach Dan McKellar revealed the Brumbies want to rebuild junior opportunities after the academy system was fell away when ARU funding was cut six years ago.

Lolesio, who played in Australia's loss to New Zealand in Sydney on Saturday, is set to be a part of a young group of players who will train with the Brumbies during the Super Rugby pre-season.

It's the same pathway Ben Hyne, Andy Muirhead, Mack Hansen, and Ryan Lonergan have followed to secure Super Rugby deals.

The ACT Schoolboys side won the national championship this year for the first time since 1988.

McKellar, who is still searching for two outside backs to complete his full-time squad, said the club was willing to invest in young talent to set up sustainable success.

"We're trying to create that environment where there's a realistic chance to play Super Rugby," McKellar said.

"As a club we want sustainable success, not just quick fixes, so that we're constantly producing our own.

"Australian Schoolboys hooker Lachlan Lonergan is another one. When Josh Mann-Rea finishes his career, ideally Lachie has been in our program and is ready to step in.

"I think there has been a bit of a disconnect between Super Rugby and club rugby, so hopefully an academy helps bridge the gap there."

The Australian Schoolboys side fell away in the second half as New Zealand charged to a 34-11 win at TG Milner Field.

Lonergan was a standout performer in the front-row, while Lolesio was impressive at inside centre.

Brumbies pathways coach Russell Ingram identified Lolesio as a recruitment target and the junior will play in Canberra next year as the club aims to develop him into a Super Rugby centre.

Lolesio has also played rugby league and is a product of Queensland's The Southport School.

"Lolesio's got the ability to play at inside or outside centre. He's a powerful footballer even if he doesn't have the biggest frame," McKellar said.

"He's skillful as well and those are the attributes you need with ball in hand. He's certainly a smart footballer.

"All the reports about his character are as glowing as his footballing ability, which is important. He was on Russell Ingram's radar and he's another good junior he's found. We're looking forward to having him down here to train."

The Brumbies are still waiting for clarity from the ARU about how Western Force players and contracts will be handled after the Perth club's demise last month.

The Force was axed from Super Rugby, leaving more than 30 players with uncertain futures.

The Brumbies have signed back-rower Isi Naisarani but McKellar has room for two more back-line prospects.

It's unlikely those positions will be filled until the ARU makes a decision on who will foot the bill for existing contracts and whether it will be flexible on the size of squads to accommodate players.

Former Brumbies back Robbie Coleman is yet to finalise his future after joining the Force this year. Coleman has another year left on his contract after deciding to leave the Brumbies at the end of 2016.

McKellar was confident in the group of players the Brumbies have already assembled, which already includes development players Hansen and Darcy Swain.

"We've provided opportunity down here and if guys have made sacrifices or made the move down, then the rewards are there," McKellar said.

"Equally for the local guys, they can get exposure to the Super Rugby squad."
