It’s all part of CWA Awareness Week which ran from September 2 to 9.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter volunteer Josh Osborne accepted a cheque for $1,000 which will go to the Armidale WRH support group.
“We’re a fundraising group here in Armidale and we’ll use that to fund events that we have,” he said.
“All of our events are fundraising events so this money may go towards that or it may go directly to keeping the helicopter in the air and keeping it free for all country people.”
The second cheque was presented to treasurer Kerrie Pearson from Armidale Can Assist.
“We help local cancer patients on their journey with anything financial,” she said.
“We pay for chemo, their chemist bills, travel, accommodation, rent, phone bill … anything financial we pay for them while they’re on their journey.”
Rosemary Brown, a hearing support teacher with the NSW Department of Education accepted the third donation. “This $1,000 cheque is for the annual Deaf Camp,” she said.
“Children who have hearing loss, with hearing aids or cochlear implants go on the trip and it’s just amazing for them because usually they’re in a minority.”
