The prestigious NSW Aboriginal Rugby League knockout, to be played at Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval, is less than two weeks away.
It is a tournament Narwan have had massive success at with their five titles, the last in 2008, the second most of any team behind host club Redfern All Blacks since the competition started in 1971.
Coach Peter Moran is in the final stages of selecting his squad for the annual event on September 29- October 2 and has high hopes his club can bring home the coveted trophy and the chance to host next year’s tournament.
“We will take two sides, we want to take a real, strong squad,” he said.
“Sides like Redfern and Cabbage Island, the three Newcastle sides will be strong.
“Even Boggabilla is going to be strong.”
Moran will be helped by retired Armidale NRL players Dean Widders and Dennis Moran.
Narwan will also have a side contesting the women’s division.
The club will also have three junior teams – under 12s, 15s and 17s lining up.
