My Future, My Choice Disability Expo will be held at Armidale Services Club, in Dumaresq Street, from 10am till 2.30pm.

It is Armidale’s largest and most successful expo and information day for people with disabilities.

“The NDIS roll-out across the region happened a year ago; in that year service providers and support services have learned so much in how we can all work together to deliver the best services for our customers,” event spokeswoman and Kirinari development and relationship manager Lorraine Legge said.

“The expo will be set up to be a one-stop shop for you to meet service providers, learn about new innovative services and have some of the industry leaders available to answer your questions.”

The expo will have a wide range of information and advice on early intervention services, carer support, advocacy, accommodation, training, education, employment post school option, equipment and adaptive technology.

The NDIS gives families and individuals the power to choose the services they would like to engage. 

As with any other consumer, people are encouraged to come and see who the competition is so they can access the best services for the best price.

The expo is a fantastic resource for people of all ages and lifestyles. There will be information about services for people of all ages and also an all-day sausage sizzle and some delicious food.

The expo is a great day that's main aim is to provide as much information about the services available to people with a disability, in the Armidale area.

The expo committee is made up of local disability organisations that all provide services within the area and know it well.

The Ascent Group

This organisation was started in 1955 by a group of families who had children with developmental disabilities.

The Ascent Group specialises in high quality community, disability and employment services for rural and regional communities and is a sponsor of this year’s My Future My Choice Commnity Links Expo.

“We are dedicated to helping people throughout the community achieve their goals,” chief executive Peter Westbrook said.

“From helping people with basic life skills to work programs, we provide people with the support and assistance they need for a more productive life.”

BEST Employment

BEST Employment is a not-for-profit company providing a range of community and employment services throughout the New England and North West NSW that will offer advice and information at the expo.

“We provide individually tailored assistance to our job seekers, which includes vocational counselling … tutoring, job canvassing, continuing job placement support and training,” BEST Employment marketing coordinator Kate Ottewell said.
