Severe water damage has rendered both grandstands unusable.with works urgently needed to halt rot that is attacking the foundations.
“As well being an important historical buildings for the showground and Armidale, the seating in the grandstands is essential for the Armidale Show,” Mr Marshall said.
“At the request of the Showground Trust, I am seeking funding from the NSW Government to ensure the grandstands do not further deteriorate.”
The Armidale Showground has been left without permanent seating since the western grandstand was declared unsafe just days prior to this year’s Armidale Show.
Armidale Showground Reserve Trust chairwoman June Dangar said rejuvenation of the grandstands would greatly benefit shows held at the grounds.
“Up until this year at the show, they were fully utilised – normally at show time they’re pretty full,” Mrs Dangar said.
