Luck didn’t go the way of DK against OVA with several shots missing their mark in the loss.
“We hit one upright, it came out, we hit the other upright and later we hit the crossbar and thirty seconds after that they've gone down and been gifted a penalty,” coach Evan Quaife said.
“I thought a draw maybe, it was probably a bit harsh to lose but we lost and that is the facts.”
They aim to start their run into the finals with winning the two matches they have this weekend, the first against North Companions on Saturday before a rescheduled fixture against Tamworth FC on Sunday.
Quaife expects an even contest against Northies and hopes his side can build some momentum with the two away matches.
“They play a pretty similar style to us, we are pretty evenly matched,” he said.
“We have to start winning game especially this weekend, we have North Companions on the Saturday followed by FC on the Sunday.
“We have really got to take some points out of these two games. If we don't start winning and getting the points we won't be in the finals.”
Thursday night’s training will help determine the makeup of the DK teams to take on North Companions with a host of players unavailable through injury, suspension and illness.
Quaife said he will call upon some of the firing reserve grade squad to fill the void.
“Our reserves have 13 unbeaten so we have a bit of depth there,” he said.
“We have to make a few changes and try and encourage a few more goals.”
East Armidale took on Northies in the recent round and shared the points in a 3-all draw. They play Joeys in Inverell this weekend.
After drawing with Norths on Saturday, South Armidale drew with Northies on Sunday. They play FC this week.
