To be guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals, the Tigers have to win their remaining matches.
There would be no bigger boost for the side’s finals dreams than winning this Saturday when they take on the ladder-leading Kootingal-Moonbi Roosters.
The last time the two sides met, the Roosters crowed 52-6 but the Uralla have since started to hit their straps and will be back on home turf at Woodburn Oval.
The Tigers went down by eight to second-placed Barraba in their most recent game but coach Brett Monley is hoping the home ground advantage will work in his side’s favour.
“Hopefully we give Kootingal a run for their money and we are still in the mix,” he said.
“We can still make the semis.
“If we lose this one, we have to win the next three and it will be down on for and against then.
“We play alright at home so hopefully we will have a good crowd there supporting us.
“It should be a good weekend.
“We will be hoping to get a lot of locals there and old boys there and supporting us.
“We only have two home games left so we have to make the most of it.”
They will be without co-captain Josh Clark who is sidelined with a calf injury.
Monley said the day doubles as a fundraiser for Fire and Rescue’s Climb for Motor Neurone disease.
“Our firies are going to be there and we are trying to raise some money,” he said.
“We are going to have some shorts and socks from the girls and boys.
“Hopefully we can raise some money to help those guys out.”
While the boys need to win for a finals finish, the ladies league tag team is already there, sitting at second, but come up against the top-of-the-table Roosters ladies.
Coach Paul Martin said it will would be a massive boost for his team to beat the table toppers in the lead up to the semi-finals.
“[We have to] just play well as a team, they're a very good side but I don't think we are very far behind them actually,” he said.
“We haven't been beaten at home for two years either so I would like to think we can put up a good show and stay second, that's our aim anyway.”
Martin said this year the side experienced some player roster changes but there is a good mix of seasoned and younger players.
“We had a big turnover, I think we lost six players from last year too but we are still going pretty good,” he said.
“I think Uralla's always been successful, they've got to three grand finals.
“We are improving as a team.
“We've got three new girls and we still have some experienced ones.”
