The city’s administrator has registered on the Role of Electors, and is eligible to become a councillor in September.
“I love Armidale and its Region,” Dr Tiley said.
The administrator will continue to attend to the day to day business of the Council but says will not be conducting an election campaign.
“I am required as the Council, to assume ‘caretaker mode’ and to ensure that major decisions are not made which would limit the actions of the incoming council,” he said.
“Commencing and establishing a new, responsive, strong, high performing Council for the Armidale Region over the past 15 months has been an exciting challenge.
“There have been significant achievements and a new momentum has been secured.
“Progress is continuing, however, there is much more that needs to be achieved over the next few years and important decisions yet to be taken.
“I am up for the challenges ahead should the electors wish.”
More to come.
