Slipping into a pair of dark sunglasses and matching fedoras – the pair are preparing to shake their tail feathers at the Stars of Armidale Dance for Cancer event.
Both work at the House With No Steps and went to Armidale High School together.
“We’ll be doing Blues Brothers,” Mr Smith said.
“We’re really busy, Jenny [Wild] is teaching us the dance.
“It’s for the cure for cancer, it’s for raising money.”
And, raise money they have.
With two months to go until the big performance, the friends have already raised more than $1000.
They’ve been doing the same dance to Shake Your Tail Feather by Ray Charles since high school, and have it down to a fine art.
“We get to use our hands to shake our tail feathers, that’s my favourite move,” Mr Sheehan said.
The two have watched the Blues Brothers movie over and over again, so they know their characters well.
“It’s to raise money for cancer, it’s for James’ mum, Gaye, and my mum’s friend has cancer,” Mr Smith said.
“One of my old teachers did too.”
The Stars of Armidale Dance for Cancer event is on September 16 at the Armidale Servies Club.
