DK travelled to Inverell on Saturday and made the trip back to Armidale as 6-nil victors. Although they kept the Joeys scoreless, coach Evan Quaife said the margin could have been bigger.
“In all honesty again we should have had a lot more goals,” he said.
“We actually played quite well and created a lot of chances but our finishing was fairly poor.
“We have worked on things at training and hopefully we will get more goals in the net not being shaved or going over or wide.”
Quaife hopes hit side hit the back of the net more this Saturday when they take on East Armidale. Easts have added strike weapon Brent Pedlow, who has scored six goals in his two games.
While Pedlow has been red-hot with the boot, Quaife’s team won’t be concentrating on taking him out.
“The last few years [against Easts] have been fairly close encounters,” he said.
“We don't concentrate on one player, we just focus on our style and try to get more goals than the other team.”
The 2017 McDonald’s Northern Inland Premier League season has seen its share of upsets and big scorelines with no clear competition frontrunners.
“It's still fairly early in the season to be making predictions but we just take each game as it comes. It's just on the day, blokes turning up and the desire to win,” Quaife said.
