Every day another 35 Australians are told they have blood cancer, immediately plunging them and their families into a world of gruelling medical treatments and fearful uncertainty.
Now in its tenth year, Light the Night is a unique fundraising event that brings Australia’s blood cancer community together in more than 100 locations to remember and reflect during a moving ceremony and short lantern walk.
It is the Leukaemia Foundation’s annual fundraising walk to help more Australians beat blood cancer, with locations of community walks now being locked in across the country.
“Hosting a Light the Walk is a truly wonderful opportunity to come together and show people in the community affected by blood cancers that in their darkest moment, they’re not alone,” said Sarah Hozack, NSW Campaigns Manager.
“Our community hosts are absolutely critical to allowing people in the Armidale region an opportunity to lend their support.

“When you raise money and carry a lantern at Light the Night, people in the Armidale community will help provide every Australian who needs it, the support and services they need to help them beat their blood cancer.”
Light the Night events can be held in a range of locations, whether it involves a few family and friends in the local park, or a bigger event supported by the council.
“Our community hosts are fully supported by our fundraising team and receive a comprehensive guide on how to hold their event, as well as posters, flyers, fundraising tools and dedicated phone support,” Sarah said.
