NSW Police say the four-year-old was found unresponsive in the bath at her home in West Hoxton just after 6pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Bellerive Close where paramedics performed CPR before the child was transferred to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
The girl died a short time after arriving at the hospital, according to police.
Officers from Green Valley Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident with a police spokeswoman saying it was most likely a "tragic accident."
