Northern Inland Premier League: Less is more for Tamworth FC's Troy Hearfield

South Armidale suffered a 5-nil loss to Tamworth FC on Saturday.

South Armidale suffered a 5-nil loss to Tamworth FC on Saturday.

Troy Hearfield’s rich vein of form continued on Saturday with a hat-trick in Tamworth FC’s 5-0 win against South Armidale.

It takes the former A-League player’s tally to 11 for the year including 10 in the past three fixtures.

Opposed to working even harder on the field, Hearfield’s form all comes down to taking more of a back seat.

“He’s probably toned things down a bit,” Tamworth FC coach Greg Bartlett said.

“Now the whole team is playing as a team and playing so much better.”

Tamworth FC now has two wins on the trot and Bartlett puts the strong form down to the team’s newfound cohesion.

“That’s all it is. As you know, with any sport, when there’s new players in your team it takes a while to gel,” he said.

“Our team was chopped and changed around but we’ve had the same starting side for a couple weeks. It makes it easier, we’re training well and playing well.”

Kurt Barrow had a strong game with a brace of goals.
