Up-and-coming bowler Jackson Gwynne had a taste of professional cricket when he hit the nets at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the long weekend. Gwynne joined his under 17 Country teammates for sessions on strength and conditioning, diet and playing analysis. The side were put through their paces by the state’s best in Cricket NSW’s coaching staff.

“It was really intense and I learnt heaps, there was a lot of information,” he said.
“Changing habits in how you train and even your diet and nutrition, they showed us how to train and live properly. A few changes in my bowling action and I think it will go a long way.”
Gwynne only made the leap to representative level cricket in the last year but wasn’t the only player stepping up to NSW Country.
“They were in pretty similar positions in not knowing that many people. There was a handful of us that hadn’t been there at all either. It made me feel like I should be there and I am not the only person that is new on the scene,” he said.
