Art can take many forms and anyone can express their artistic abilities, especially at the Creative Aging Morning Tea hosted by the New England Regional Arts Museum (NERAM).

The event, which took place on Wednesday, was designed to promote the importance of health and wellbeing for the older community.
It was sponsored by locally owned care provider, Home Nursing Group (HNG), and is the first in a series of programs which will provide senior members of the local community, the opportunity to explore their creativity and enjoy a range of relaxed artistic and cultural activities.
The morning started with a practical arts activity with local artist Kerry Gulliver, followed by morning tea and a performance by the fun Wild Women of Armidale.
Participants then discovered the treasures of The Howard Hilton Collection on a special Art Storeroom tour.
“These programs are a great way for senior members of our community to get together in a welcoming, non-intimidating and creative environment”, said Robert Heather, Art Museum Director.
“Arts activities are able to enhance the health and wellbeing of older members of our community, and help people to maintain good physical, mental and emotional health”.
The event sponsor, Home Nursing Group believed that maintaining a strong community connection was important to people who want to remain independent and at home.
