Off the back of consecutive losses the Blues were out for a win but the students were too classy, accounting for their opposition 30-13.
While they managed to get the win, co-coach Chris Kelly said it was a lacklustre performance by his side.
“It wasn't an outstanding performance but it was a win,” he said.
“We just worked well and they just ran out of numbers in the end and a few of our guys capitalised on the good work.
“It was very stop-start, there were a lot of penalties and a few handling errors which we shouldn't have had on an otherwise good day.
“We were happy enough with the win but we didn't get out of second gear which is a bit unfortunate.”
Kelly believes his team weren’t paying enough attention to the “finer details” in the game and could have earned an even better win with a bit of sharper play.

Albies will have to step up a gear on Wednesday evening when they face student rivals Robb College for their scheduled round 10 clash.
University holidays led to a change in date of the game but both sides will still be weakened with some players leaving early for the break.
“It is always hard these midweekers so it will be a challenge,” Kelly said.
“It will be a tough encounter considering both sides have got a few people out but we will certainly be there to win it.
“We just have to play smartly. They are a good side, there's no two ways about that.
“We just have to go out and play the game we can do.
“We probably struggled to do that for the majority of the year so far and we have only really seen it in little glimpses.”
After the match against Robb, Albies have the bye and then won’t hit the field again until June 24 when they play Glen Innes-Guyra at home.
The early stages of the season were stop-start for the teams involved and Kelly said while it isn’t ideal, once his side get back on the park for back-to-back matches, he is confident they can build momentum for another title tilt.
“We just want some consistency and our execution has been a little bit lacking,” he said.
“It is just a matter of tuning up our execution and when we do that, we will have a pretty good shot at the competition.
“We are just focused on Robb and then we will see what happens.”
