Porter and his wife have run Porter Power Boxing for four years in Armidale to help local youth use boxing training and turning them into amateur boxers.
He has been competing as an amateur boxer since the age of 16 and now he is ready to step up to the next level when he enters the ring on June 2 in Sydney.
“I have been training extremely hard for this fight, my opponent has had a fair few fights already, but that doesn’t bother me,” he said.
“I am ready for this physically and mentally.
“I’ve done the hard work, cut the weight and now I’m ready to rumble.”
“This has been a long time dream of mine and now I’m so pumped it’s about to happen.”
Porter has been working hard in his local gym but with the help of Tamworth’s Paulie Saunders and the support of his wife, he has stepped up his training a notch to compete at the higher level.
“Without Paulie there is no way I would be making my dream become a reality,” he said.
