Two fields of pumpkins that were to be distributed to those in need have perished due to wild weather conditions.
Pathfinders CEO Alan Brennan said the staff and young people are devastated, but are looking to the community for help.
“Regardless of the set backs that we’ve had in an attempt to plant two lots of pumpkins, we’re determined to make the Pathfinders Pumpkin Run happen by calling on residents of the region to help with donations,” he said.
Since its inception, the Pathfinders Pumpkin Run has delivered almost 20 tonnes of pumpkins.
Tilbuster Station officer Tom Kalinowski said that he’s never seen a tougher year for pumpkin growing at the working farm.
“Even though the pumpkins weren’t able to grow, the relationships we forge and the lessons the kids get out of the Pumpkin Run are worth the extra effort,” he said.
