Re-scheduled from the washed out opening round, Norths travelled to Inverell on Sunday and, 24 hours after they beat East Armidale, accounted for the hosts 2-1. 

Inverell ventured into the game fresh with their match against Oxley Vale Attunga on the Saturday postponed. 

The Joeys will be eager to get back one on their opponents on Armidale turf but this time round both teams will be on fresh legs. 

“We know what to expect,” Norths’ co-coach Scott Freeman said. 

“It is a case of you know who their danger players are now, we know how they play but on the same card they know our danger players and the way we play. 

“I think Inverell will be a bit shocked with us this weekend.” 

The Redmen took a tired and undermanned squad to Inverell on Sunday but Freeman said they were still dominant throughout. 

“I have been discussing it with a few of our players and it was just a game where we went over and got the job done,” he said. 

“We had our front three out, one due to suspension and the other two were just unavailable. 

“We took a neat, 22 players away.

“We dominated that game but just couldn't finish.

“At one stage there for about five or 10  minutes Inverell were just trying to get a picture of what the ball looked like, we just had it that much.”

The Redmen proved what they could do with rested players the day before when they beat East Armidale.

Norths scored five goals to East’s one in the round seven game. 

“Our midfield won that for us,” Freeman said. 

“They are just working really hard at the moment. 

“Backs, to only let one goal in, they are still doing their jobs.

“Strikers, five goals, can't ask for much better than that.”

Freeman said his team is starting to gel together with regular first graders returning to the squad. 

While Easts didn’t get the win, Freeman said they won’t be easybeats. 

“They're losing games but I am not surprised they are causing teams plenty of grief either because they play a very hard, physical game,” he said.
