The Baa Baas denied Albies a dominant start when they were first to put points on the board courtesy of a penalty.
The students then kicked into gear for the remainder of the match to win 37-14.
“The first 20 minutes weren't that impressive, we made a few mistakes and found ourselves three points down but they ground themselves back into it and certainly we pretty impressive in quite a few patches,” co-coach Chris Kelly said.
“They knew Barbarians would have a crack physically at them. A couple of blokes that were under a bit of pressure played well.”
Albies are at home this Saturday and will face an Armidale Blues side seeking redemption after two consecutive losses.
“I don't know the finer details of the Blues' game but certainly coming off two losses, it is not a situation the Blues are familiar with, they will put a good team on the paddock and put in a good account for themselves,” Kelly said.
“Jono Green and Pete Brooker are unavailable this weekend but the blokes we are putting in are very tidy footballers as well so we are very confident we will play well.”
