From the commencement of the junior games in the morning, Rugby League Park was abuzz with players, spectators and officials who put their hand in their pockets to donate to the cause.
The clubs worked together to raffle off prizes from local businesses and sold doubles to successfully raise $1700 on the day.
Rams’ president Terry Carson said the event was well supported.
“We had a lot of people just come and give donations,” he said.
“There were certainly some people who don't usually come to regular football, friends of the family and that sort of thing.”
On the field, the junior Rams were successful across all age groups against the Uralla Tigers.
The seniors weren’t so lucky in their games against Tingha.
The under 18s forfeited their match.
The fourth-placed Armidale Rams’ ladies league tag side came up against the first-placed Tigers team.
Hayley Ford was missing for the hosts through representative commitments and her absence was felt as the girls went down 26-4.
In a scrappy reserve grade game, Tingha finished as victors as they edged out the Rams 28-24.
“They went really well, they played probably the best game they have played this year,” Carson said of reserve grade’s efforts.
“Pushed passes and dropped balls cost them the game on the day.”
After a series of thumpings in first grade, the team started to hit some form and only fell by two points to the visitors.
“The last two weeks you could certainly see a massive improvement,” Carson said.
“It all started to come together really.
“They have been working hard at training and now the results are getting better.”
The Rams enjoy the bye this weekend.
The club welcomed the break with a few minor injuries among the squad.
