Competing at the NSW All Schools championships, Hayden raced to a bronze medal in the 50 metre butterfly.
The Armidale Alligator’s place on the podium secured him a place in the NSW team to compete in Adelaide in December for the 10th Pacific School Games.
He has the fastest 50 split time in his age in the country at present so he will aim to accomplish that again which he hopes will put him somewhere in the top 10.

The Pacific School Games will have around 4000 students from Australia, New Zealand and other pacific nations up against each other in 11 different sports.
Hayden’s mum Jodie said he is thrilled with the opportunity to come up against talent from overseas.
“Mitch is really excited about his first international meet,” she said.
“He has the fastest 50 split time in his age in the country at present so he will aim to accomplish that again which he hopes will put him somewhere in the top 10.
“He is also hoping to do some fundraising in the meantime to help assist him to get there.”
