Adam Stackman and Nathan Stace were hard at work, painting the fence, as Armidale Regional Council undertakes scheduled maintenance work at the park.
The white picket fence has been a familiar and visible feature of the local landscape for many years.
Council’s Parks and Facilities Officer, Richard Morsley said that while the aging picket fence may need to be replaced one day, it is intended that careful maintenance will preserve it as long as possible.
“Many of the pailings have been replaced over the years as part of an ongoing maintenance program which includes painting,” said Mr Morsley.
“A fresh coat of quality paint will give the fence a new lease of life.”
While there will be minimal impact to the community, park users and neighbours should be aware that work on the fence at Lambert Park is being undertaken during May.
Nathan Stace Painting and Decorating has been contracted to paint the fence.
