But here's what you might not know: The pilot was Damien Wilkins, who grew up in the New England region.
The Inverell boy went to school at Gilgai Public and Macintyre High School, then joined the Air Force after Year 12 with aspirations to fly.
These days he is one of the elite few who pilot the F-18 fighters, and has deployed to combat overseas.
On April 25, he left Williamtown Airbase at Newcastle and made a low pass over the Armidale Anzac Day service before he flew by Inverell and Glen Innes.
