After completion of my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Nepal, I worked about four years in hospitals as a nurse then three years as an assistant lecturer guiding and teaching the nursing students.
It was my dream to get Masters of Nursing degree from an overseas university right after my Bachelor degree, but during the time I had my baby and I was involved in teaching profession so it took few years to proceed. After looking at various universities, I found the University of New England. Australia can be the best option to make my dream come true as it has got a high reputation throughout the world for the outstanding academic and professional outcomes.
It was quite hard and a big challenge for me to take the decision to go Australia for study, but due to my family support I was able to achieve this and came to Australia last August with my husband.
Likewise, it was very challenging for me to go through the academic life too because of some gaps in my education and being homesick - especially missing my child who is just two and half years old. I felt so fortunate that I had supportive and caring teachers who gave me emotional support as well to overcome this situation.
Nepal is a developing country and people are still suffering from various diseases which could be prevented through simple measures. But due to ignorance, lack of awareness and lack of facilities, people are still struggling to get health assistance.
My husband is a doctor and we have being involved in various health camps in rural areas of our country, and it is our dream to bring positive changes in health among the people of our country.
Until I can improve the health standards of my community, I won’t be totally satisfied in my life, and one day I hope to say: “The decision that I made was for the best”. It is the great experience for me to learn different things here and I will try my best to enhance my knowledge, skills and attitude in personal and professional life.
