The competition saw 14 budding contestants, including Armidale’s own NEGS student Chelsea Devenish, roll into the Glen Innes Showgrounds on Saturday to battle it out for a place in the finals at the Royal Easter Show.
“The beef industry is certainly in very good shape with its success into the future assured given the calibre of talent on display here today,” Dulverton Angus owner Greg Chappell said.

“The knowledge, observational skills and objective market oriented reasons given by the contestants were great.
“I congratulate the contestants and wish them the very best for the finals at the Sydney Show.”
To wrap up the proceedings John Lee from Agricultural Societies Council of NSW thanked the organising committee headed by Rachel and Andrew Hancock.
The Sydney Royal is the largest ticketed annual event in the southern hemisphere and runs from April 6 until April 19 at the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park.
Each year the Sydney Royal Easter Show attracts an average of 850,000 visitors and with the 2017 Show coinciding with NSW school holidays, there is every opportunity for that number to be exceeded.
Royal Agricultural Society of NSW General Manager, Murray Wilton said many people work tirelessly throughout the year to preserve and display for all Showgoers the nearly 200 years of Show heritage, while at the same time presenting the most contemporary rides and entertainment from around the world.
“We get one shot every year at entertaining and educating our domestic and international visitors and we love sending them home having had the best experience possible,” he said.
New attractions this year include “Little Hands On The Land” – a kid-sized working farm aimed at teaching children all about agriculture from the crop to the shop.
