Opening up the day’s events was the North Hill Vet Maiden which was won by Robert Humphrey’s Grand Vista who edged out Typhoon Clive over the 365m.
Garry Streatfield earned another win on the Armidale track with Glenreagh Harry in the 365m Armidale Express Maiden.
Mulwee Senor hit the line in first place for Ranald Dawes in the 2AD Stakes.
Peter O’Malley’s C’Mon Angela was too good for the rest of the pack in the Barbarians Rugby Club Stakes over 365m.
Valerie Cleghorn took out the feature race of the day, the Warren Northam Memorial Stakes when Val’s Rose Baby beat Cosmic Taleya in a race to the finish.
Roaming Creek got the job done for Brendan Behsman in the Club Appreciation Stakes while Ricardo Valley rounded out the day’s winners in the Race Day Staff Appreciation Stakes.
While rain softened the surface, it didn’t deter crowds from turning up and celebrating the day’s racing.
"It was the Warren Northam Memorial and the family turned up and they really appreciated the club putting that on,” club president-manager Greg Nordstrom said.
"The crowd was up because all the family, brothers, wife, sons, daughters and grandkids from Warren's side of the family, it was quite a good turn up.
"It was a little bit slower than normal but that only slows the dogs down a little bit. We had no injuries from the meet at all so the club was very please that way as well.”
