The group have been running rides at the Lamb and Potato Festival for decades.
But in recent years the they have been limited to a two kilometre stretch of rail.
“We used to go to where it stops now up to the abattoirs,” ride organiser Ron Lockyer said.
“But then we were hit with big insurance and so we stopped the trains.”
Mr Lockyer said when the group gained permission to return to the line, they were stopped from crossing Ollera Street.
“We were stopped due to the fact that it would stop trucks coming through,” he said.
“So then we elected to just run on those two kilometres.”
To push the matter further, the group organised a visit from the Independent Transport Safety Regulator on Thursday, to evaluate risks under the Rail Safety National Law. The matter will also be presented to Council.
