Ty has one show only in Australia Sunday, May 7 at West Tamworth Leagues Club.
“We are excited to bring Ty to Australia’s Country Music Capital, performing one show only, it will be a show not to be missed,” the concert’s promoter, Chris Watson, said. The concert coincides with a dance festival run by Mr Watson.
“To be able to bring Ty to the country music capital and to coincide with the Australian Country Dance Festival is a great fit, Ty has a huge fan base from country dancers,” Mr Watson said.
“We hope that the local country music fans will come and enjoy Ty Herndon Live in convert.”
Nicknamed Mayworth, the Australian Country Dance Festival is a spin-off from the Tamworth Country Music Festival, focused on line-dancing. Herndon’s concert will be the finale for this year’s festival.
Mr Watson, who takes a tour group to Nashville every June, said he spoke with Herndon’s management last year, when the US singer performed for his Australian group in Nashville.
He had previously brought US artists John Stone and Daryl Worley to Fiji for a festival, and said Herndon’s management was open to the idea of him travelling here for a concert.
“It’s a risk, but it’s always good to try new things and keep country music here as often as we can throughout the year,” Mr Watson said.
Between 1995 and 2002, Herndon charted 17 singles, including his three No.1s and numerous top 10 hits, such as I Want My Goodbye Back, Loved Too Much, A Man Holding On, and Hands of a Working Man.
He topped the charts in 1996 with the single Living in a Moment and again in 1998 with It Must Be Love.
His music has been played on country radio all over the world. Having a career spanning two decades, 20 Billboard charted singles and five million albums sold, Herndon sees no signs of slowing down.
For those who know him, his passion and commitment to music is not surprising.
He continuously performs shows and withholds a heavy appearance schedule; proving Herndon as unstoppable.
Herndon released his latest and most ambitious album to date last November.
House on Fire is a collection of 12 songs, co-produced by Herndon and Nashville stalwart, Erik Halbig, that shows a deeper, greater strength from a man who has been there and back and lived to tell about it.
Herndon is credited for co-writing six of the 12 tracks.
House on Fire is the next evolution of Herndon as an artist who has not only claimed his place in country music, but has earned it, literally, through blood, sweat and tears.
