The celebrations began when Uralla Shire Council councillor Isabel Strutt was the only woman at the table.
“The theme this year is Be Bold for Change… I think there’s a greater acceptance of women in management, in executive positions and in community service work as well,” Ms Strutt said.
“There’s always been a focus on International Women’s Day to think about women overseas and the fact that they don’t have the same lifestyle, the same opportunities as we have.
“They’ve had serious challenges and they’ve met those challenges.
“It’s an inspiration, it’s encouragement and it just inspires you to do more.”
The luncheon is at Uralla Central School on March 31.
