Some of the most dedicated people involved in the exhibiting are the Pearson family.

This year, the Guyra family of four entered every section except flowers and fine arts.

“We entered something in everything else,” mother and steward Gwyneth Pearson said.

“My husband and son put wool in and then the kids have got things in the craft section and the school section.

“My husband also has something in the fruit and vegetables section and my daughter in the jams section and we also have things in the cooking and sewing sections.”

The family have been involved for around two decades.

“My husband has been doing the wool section for around 20 years,” she said.

“I’ve been helping in the school section for 19 years and head steward for the last three years.”

The section showcases paintings and artworks from the schools and preschools around Guyra.

“It’s absolutely amazing … the schools really get involved,” Ms Pearson said.

“The kids love coming and seeing their artwork … they get so excited.”

This year former Guyra Central School student Hope McClure won the “all over champion” for her year 12 major artwork.

“For her major work she made a tree on top of some books … it looks amazing,” Ms Pearson said.

“The most exhibitor [the most entries] was Bronte Stanley from Guyra Central School.”

Ms Pearson’s husband Ian Pearson is a third generation wool grower. 

He has been entering in the wool show for around 20 years.

“The section displays different classes of wool from the whole area,” he said.

“People come from all over including Armidale and Glen Innes ... it’s one of the biggest wool shows in the area.”

This year’s grand champion in the Merino fleece 70’s section was G.J and R Hamel and R.M and R.M Gordon in the ram fleece section.
