Through the wearing of pink and the sales of pink items, the club’s juniors were able to raise $1500.
The money was then split between the McGrath Foundation and the efforts to raise money for the Armidale Oncology unit through the shaving of Benjamin Jackson’s head and beard.
Moxons Bakery kindly donated pink finger buns and lamingtons which were sold at the junior games. Pink caps supplied by Print Anything in Inverell and pink bucket hats, supplied by Armidale Sportspower, were available for purchase and sold out very quickly.
During the week leading up to Pink Stumps Day, Sue Lennon of Renee Marie sold pink wrist bands, shoe laces and other items. The Coffee shop Armidale kindly donated gift vouchers to help keep our volunteers energy levels up during the day.
In the afternoon, at the game that was abandoned in first grade between Ex-Services and Easts due to the pitch not being covered the previous night. Paddock to Table catering supplied a barbeque. The barbeque was the scene of the spectacular Jackson shaving and some impromptu cricket games between the kids and the senior players.
The club would like to thank all of the sponsors and supporters that allowed the day to be such a success and let us also educate the kids within our club of the importance of supporting those people within our local community that need help due to illness or other circumstances.
