In what coincided with Pink Stumps Day, Servies cricketer Ben Jackson made the bold decision to shave his head in a fundraiser for the oncology unit at Armidale Hospital.
Jackson raised more than $1700 for his efforts, with that figure still on the rise.
Oncology nurses Sonja Hickey and Karen Hutchens were tasked with transforming Jackson’s look.
The money will go toward making patients’ stays in the ward more comfortable.
Different services including purchasing magazine subscriptions make their time at hospital easier.
"They are fundraising to do different services for the patients,” Hickey said
"People are there from an hour up to eight hours for the day so it is filling that to make their stay there more comfortable.”
There was no shortage of witnesses on the day with people continuing to make donations to the cause.
"This community is just amazing, there are lots of fundraisers happening often,” Hickey said.
"Different people do a shave or they do the CanAssist fundraisers so we are linked in with all the cancer groups in town to do the fundraising.
"Everybody donates a little bit quite regularly.
"The cricket boys have done this and they have chosen what they wanted to do it for and they did oncology.
"Thanks to the Ex-Services boys and the Easts boys for doing the fundraiser and sending the money on to the oncology unit.”
