In the opening game for the new year, Servies won the toss and elected to bat first.
They made their way to 43 overs before being bowled out for 228 with Josh Martin’s 41 the top score for the side.
The Baa Baas’ Chris Wild was the pick of the team’s bowlers, earning four wickets and Cameron Mundy was not far behind with three.
The start of the Barbarians’ innings didn’t go the way the side hoped, losing wickets early however captain Brad Rafferty stepped up to the crease down the order and piled on 64 runs including five fours and three sixes.
The match was still in the balance in the final five overs with the Baa Baas hanging on with only one wicket in hand.
They managed to chase down Servies’ total without losing the final wicket.
Rafferty said the match was tight the whole way through but they will need to be sharper this Saturday when they take on the unbeaten Hillgrove.
"We had a few good performances in the batting, same with Servies, they had pretty similar scores to us but if anything we were a bit rusty with our bowling,” he said.
"It got away from us a bit which you could put down to the Christmas holidays, everyone was a bit rusty.
"It got away from us a bit in that department but everybody batted well enough to make up for it. [Hillgrove] will be [tough] but if we keep the same team and play the way we did I think we will give them a good run and hopefully knock them off too.”
