The first course that was launched was the Graduate Certificate in NDIS Business Development.

This course was developed by Bronwen Jackman who is a lecturer in the School of Law.

Ms Jackman identified that the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will result in wide scale social change. In fact Ms Jackman likened the NDIS to Medicare, in terms of the impact that it will have on our community.

Ms Jackman worked with members of the disability industry in order to come up with content for the innovative course.

Working with this reference group allowed Ms Jackman to develop a course that specifically meets the needs of the disability sector and organisations.

The second course that was launched in Parramatta was the Diploma in Prosecution and Advocacy.

This course was developed as a reaction to the many enquiries that the law school received in terms of a skills based course for potential students who work as prosecutors or advocates.

This course will be applicable to people who work as prosecutors or advocates in places such as local councils, government departments and even the RSPCA!

Students will gain the skills they need to litigate in the local court. Some of the skills that will be learnt include plea negotiation, case analysis, interviewing witnesses, negotiations, case handling and courtroom advocacy. 

Both of the launches were a success with interested parties attending from a diverse range of backgrounds to hear about the School of Law’s innovative courses.
