The event is a five kilometre fun run with a twist.

Runners will be pelted with coloured powder paint bombs as they pass through the grounds at New England Girls’ School.

Event organiser Daniel Raffaele said they expect to have 700 to 800 runners on the day.

“We think the event will be really successful.

We’ve been working closely with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter team for the last few years and it’s something that we really believe in.

They do really great work for the community, that’s why we chose them as the beneficiary charity of our event,” he said.

The organisers are calling on community members to donate their time to throw colour bombs at the fast-moving crowd.

Participants are welcome to run, walk, skip or push a pram as it is not a timed event.

Serious athletes are invited to time themselves on the fun run.

The event will take place on Sunday September 11.
