Year 12 Music Extension students from PLC Armidale, O’Connor, Armidale High School and TAS accepted the invitation with each student playing two works from their recital programs or their respective HSC performances.
“These students are united in their desire to take on the challenge presented by the Music Extension Course and the performance evening allowed them the opportunity to play, listen and support each other,” PLC Armidale’s Director of Strings Deidre Rickards said.
The audience was treated to a variety of excellent repertoire including Mark O’Connor Celtic Duos, Vaughan Williams Art songs, Contemporary recorder works and Baroque songs.
The diversity reflected the interest from each individual and the best performances were engaging and well prepared.
Past student of PLC Armidale, Lyndall Nevin, who is now herself teaching music in a different location, it was a credit to everyone involved.
“This is one of the amazing things about studying Music in Armidale. The collaborative approach between schools to ensure the best outcomes for students is unique and should be celebrated.
“I finished Year 12 at PLC Armidale in 1995, and it was happening way back then.”
The event was held in the Music room at PLC Armidale last Wednesday night.
