FORTY kilograms of tomatoes, 12 butternut pumpkins and a whole lot of love is going into the opening of the Daphne Young Watercolour Art Prize Exhibition on Saturday night.

Members of the New England Art Society are busily working away at preparing for the night, which will mark the exhibition’s third anniversary.
Member Greg Roberts said guests would be warmed right through with complimentary soup and crusty bread.
“Each year Blush Tomatoes of Guyra donate tomatoes for our rich farmhouse tomato soup,” he said.
“This year we took a delivery of 40 kilograms of the sweetest, bright red juicy tomatoes we’ve seen.
“It’s rich creamy, soup – no water added.”
A further dozen butternut pumpkins, grown by Roberts, have also been set aside for the night.
Society members are expecting to fill two 15 litre vats with pumpkin and tomato soup to dish out to hungry gallery goers.
Entry is free, and guests are advised the gallery will be toasty and warm on the night.
“As one of the few competitions purely for water colour, this exhibition is a special opportunity for visitors to the gallery to see watercolour at its best,” Roberts said.
“Watercolour is a unique medium it’s transparent qualities can bring colour and luminosity difficult to achieve with other mediums.”
The event kicks off at 6pm the Armidale Art Gallery, which located upstairs in Beardy Street Mall near Courthouse Coffee.
